Kaya Hersh

Kaya Hersh is a finance and operations executive with more than 25 years of experience helping organizations build the financial strength to sustain their missions. As Chief Financial Officer and Acting Chief Operations Officer of East Bay Community Foundation, she oversees finance, grants management, investments, information systems, technology, and facilities. She has also served as Interim Co-CEO/ED for two organizations during periods of leadership transition.

Across nonprofit, federally funded and private-sector organizations, Kaya has built finance, human resources, and technology teams from the ground up, guided organizations through periods of unprecedented change, and given boards the clear, reliable information they need to make sound decisions. She is known for calm leadership under pressure and a people-first approach that helps teams grow.

Kaya’s commitment to caregivers is personal. Caring for a loved one living with dementia and Alzheimer’s showed her firsthand the emotional, logistical and financial weight caregivers carry, and led her to serve on the advisory board of her local Alzheimer’s Association’s chapter. She is honored to join Caregiver OneCall’s board and to help build the financial infrastructure that will carry its mission to more families.

Kaya holds an MBA from Indiana University, a B.S. in Accounting from Ball State University, and an AI Business Strategy Certification from Johns Hopkins University.
